Our therapist: Michal Samovich
Michal is a highly qualified beauty therapist who has been in the beauty industry for 16 years in total, starting with an international qualification in beauty and skin care therapy in 2003. Having a passion for makeup and after a few years of working on movie sets, dancers at the Fifa World Cup, she went on a mission to empower herself and grow her business; and Permanent Make-up was her next adventure. With an already keen eye for make-up, all Michal needed was to learn the technique to this popular trend. Michal says: “I want women to feel amazing when they wake-up in the morning and not have to struggle with things like drawing eyebrows and applying eyeliner.”
After doing meticulous research, Michal chose to train with Erika Davis Academy in Centurion, who uses a pain free procedure. What could be better?
What is microblading (brows)?
When you’ve tried every pencil, powder, pigment, gel, and stencil and your brows are still not quite what you’d like, microblading—a more permanent solution to thin brows—is the last-ditch-effort treatment that promises to change your brow life. The face tattoo technique isn’t as scary as it sounds.
Microblading is an embroidery of small, precise strokes that mimic the effect of real hairs, and uses a special microblading pen to individually draw on the strokes. Unsurprisingly, the technique’s unparalleled natural finish has made its popularity skyrocket in recent months. Chances are you’ve probably spotted microblading on your Instagram feed, and may be curious as to whether or not you should give it a try.
During the 2-hour procedure with Michal, she will go through a full, thorough consultation process with you, the client. First, she applies the local topical anaesthetic to numb the area. Then a thorough consultation card is filled in by you, the client, and she asks questions to find out what exactly you are looking for in terms of your preferred “look”. Michal will then help by giving her experienced, professional advice. This ensures that both therapist AND you are 100% happy. Michal then measures the various features on the face and draws on an ideal brow which will frame your face and suit your personal preference. She also selects the correct colour pigment to match your natural colouring.
Once you are both happy with the result of the drawn on brows, she will use her handheld blade and use the microblading technique to draw on each individual hair stroke, giving an incredibly natural look (you’ll see for yourself below!). Over the next 6-8 weeks the pigment will develop by travelling up the layers of the skin to give a final healed result at 8 weeks.
At that stage, we will take a look at the brows and how they have healed and see if we need to perform a touch up procedure.
